The Kratos BQM‑177 is a high‑performance subsonic aerial target (SSAT) used to replicate anti‑ship cruise‑missile threats for live‑fire training. Powered by a MicroTurbo Tri‑60‑5 turbojet, it can reach up to Mach 0.95 (≈ 1 164 km/h) and fly sea‑skimming at altitudes as low as 2 m, providing realistic, high‑dynamic threat profiles for ship‑board Aegis, SM‑2 and SM‑6 missile‑defence systems. With a 45 kg internal payload capacity, it can carry scoring suites, IFF, RF/IR augmentors, chaff, flare dispensers or towed targets. The 2.1 m‑winged, 5.2 m‑long platform launches from land or sea and is operated by the U.S. Navy and export customers Japan and Saudi Arabia as a CLASS II tactical target drone.
